The Shopping Festival: (Dubai Shopping Festival- DSF)

The Dubai Shopping Festival is the only event of its kind in the world. It started as a small idea and has become one of the most prestigious tourism events of the year. Each year this event becomes bigger and better as more and more people become aware and flock to Dubai for an entire entire month of shopping and entertainment. The tourism sector benefits directly as tour and travel agencies promote the Dubai Shopping Festival by advertising it to all corners of the world. Today the Festival is a mere reflection of the ambition and courage of the residents of Dubai.

The Jazz Festival: (Dubai Jazz Fest- DJF)

The Jazz Festival which started in 2003 was the result of over 24 months of research. During this time the event organizers observed the cultures and potential that Dubai had to offer. The result of this research was an event which had over eight thousand people in attendance. The organizers have managed to entice several large corporate giants to become sponsors of this event. This Festival has now become a true world class event featuring many of the top names in the world of Jazz.

The Rock Festival: (Dubai Desert Rock- DDR)

The Rock Festival in Dubai has far exceeded expectations by becoming a success despite the rather conservative reputation that is equated to this part of the world.
The organizers started the event in 2004 and achieving this success has been no easy task. At first the Dubai Rock Festival was small and received very little support from the public. Festival organizers had meant to kick the event off with three bands. While The Rasmus and Juliana Down performed the headlining band backed out just before the concert because their vocalist felt insecure of performing in Dubai. Still, the event organizers were determined to take this event to the next level and the very next year they managed just that with an even mightier lineup which would shake the world. Rock music in all its strength broke boundaries to stand true to its name thanks to the event organizers who showed persistence when it really mattered. Today the Dubai Desert Rock festival has a lot to boast about as one can now find a Skateboarding/half pipe event, music cassettes and CD’s being sold, hair-dressers giving you the ROCK MAKEOVER, tattoo artists, graffiti signs for aspiring artists and a lot more. To give you a rough idea of how successful the Dubai Desert Rock festival has become it is now a two day event, full of entertainment, music and more… (For the benefit of all the ‘Old American Rock and Roll’ enthusiasts visiting Dubai, look out for the Hard Rock Café at the Sheikh Zayed Rd.)

The Film Festival: (The Dubai International Film Festival- DIFF)

The year was 2004 and Dubai was about to add another gem to its crown in the form of the Dubai Film Festival. One of the most sought after International Film Festivals of the year. Dubai always believed that Films are a powerful medium of communication and as it has turned out they were right. The Dubai International Film Festival brings thousands of people from different cultures and varied backgrounds together under a single roof. It has helped initiate inter-cultural dialogue time and over again, bridging gaps and collating different thought patterns.
